Pathway to Dignity

fl_oespa_rev.png

As OCPS classified employees, we are suffering at the hands of managers and administrators who don’t respect us, a district that disregards our value to our public schools, and Tallahassee decision makers who fail to adequately provide the resources needed to sustain living wages for the workers who support the mission of educating students across the state in our neighborhood public schools.

We can overcome these injustices through 7,000+ classified employees paving a Pathway to Dignity that includes:

·    A livable wage and affordable health insurance for all classified employees

OCPS is one of the largest school districts in the nation, yet OCPS pays its employees less than every surrounding district. Too many of us work multiple jobs and still rely on federal assistance to feed our families.  A livable wage is OUR FIGHT, NOT A PROMISE.  We must fight for a livable wage that reflects the value of the work we do.

·      A workplace free from discrimination and retaliation

Our members feel they are being discriminated against.  We should not be afraid to speak up against real or perceived discrimination. Opportunities for advancement for those who are dedicated and work hard should be within reach.  We must ensure that equal opportunities exist for ALL classified employees in OCPS.

·      Establish our value to our OCPS students, parents and community

As OESPA members, we go unrecognized for the essential work we do in our public schools. We must increase our visibility in our community by creating programs that educate the public about our importance and draw new workers into our field.

THIS IS OUR FIGHT, NOT A PROMISE.  Our ability to win is directly related to the power of our union amplified by the determination of our members.  We can achieve these goals; we have a plan, but our fellow members need your support to make it happen. Join us in paving a Pathway to Dignity for all classified employees in OCPS!
