OESPA members filled the building!
During the meeting: After OESPA members left:
At the School Board Meeting on February 23rd, about 85 OESPA members and supporters participated in a silent protest at the OCPS School Board meeting. Superintendent Barbara Jenkins, and all 7 School Board members in attendance looked out into the board room and saw for the first time in a long time the real "Faces of OESPA." Board members and District executives saw bus drivers and monitors, maintenance workers, custodians, paraprofessionals, security guards, food service workers, TSR's and clerical workers in the house to say, "We matter!" From now on, when the Board discusses bargaining proposals and pay increases they will remember our faces.
Last night was our first demonstration of the solidarity that exists within our union, and it was a success. It was a pivotal moment in our fight for a Pathway to Dignity, but our work is just beginning.
